'You Can't Have my Planet But Take My Brother, Please' uses humor to help children understand that they can play a vital role in helping to protect the environmenT.  


In the Novel it turns out that we humans are merely renting Earth.  Because we're such lousy tenants we're about to get evicted!  A 13 year old boy named giles, along with three of his friends, must embark on a quest to prove that our species is actually capable of stewarding the planet.


The book also explores sibling rivalries.  Giles must learn to get along with his big brother in order to succeed on the quest.


Learning to appreciate and not discriminate against the handicapped is also an important theme in the book.  A girl in a wheelchair named Navida is one of The Hero's closest allies on his quest.


Giles' relationship with his grandmother is also a key component in the STORY.
